Eligibility requirements

  • Be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application (or 18-35 for Canadian, French, and Irish citizens)
  • Have a valid passport from a country that has a reciprocal working holiday arrangement with Australia
  • Complete health checks
  • Obtain a police check
  • Have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay, including travel costs, accommodation, and living expenses (usually at least AUD $5,000)
  • Must not have any dependent children accompanying you during your stay in Australia
  • Must not have previously held a Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) or Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462)
  • Have a genuine intention to holiday in Australia, with work being a secondary intention
  • Have a functional level of English language proficiency
