462 Work and Holiday Visa

The 462 visa allows young people aged 18 to 30 (inclusive) to have an extended holiday in Australia and work here to help fund their trip.

Overview

The Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) allows young people from eligible countries to have an extended holiday in Australia while also working to fund their stay. This visa is similar to the Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) but is available to different countries and has slightly different eligibility requirements, including education qualifications.

Eligibility requirements

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application (or 18-35 for some countries)
  • Hold a valid passport from a country that has a reciprocal work and holiday arrangement with Australia
  • Have completed at least two years of post-secondary education or training, or have completed an equivalent qualification
  • Obtain a health check
  • Obtain a police check
  • Have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay in Australia, including travel costs, accommodation, and living expenses (usually at least AUD $5,000)
  • Must not have any dependent children accompanying you during your stay in Australia
  • Must not have previously held a Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) or Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) in Australia
  • Have functional English language proficiency
  • Meet the specific requirements for your country, including any caps or letter requirements
