The Prospective Marriage visa allows you to travel to Australia to marry your prospective spouse. After marriage, you can apply for a Partner visa. This visa is valid for 9 to 15 months.

Eligibility Requirements
- Be engaged to marry an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen
- Be outside Australia when you apply
- Intend to marry within 9 months of visa grant
- Have met your prospective spouse in person
- Be 18 years or older
- Meet health and character requirements
- Be sponsored by your prospective spouse

Your prospective spouse submits sponsorship
Lodge visa application online from outside Australia
Provide evidence of genuine intention to marry
Include proof of meeting in person
Complete health examinations
Obtain police certificates
Attend interview if required

- 300 Visa - main applicant: $1,955
- 300 Visa - additional applicant over 18: $890

50% of applications: 14 months
90% of applications: 29 months
Restrictions & Conditions
- Must marry within 9 months of visa grant
- Must marry the person who sponsored you
- Limited to 9-15 month stay
- No extensions available
- Must be outside Australia when applying and when visa is granted
Additional Information
After you marry your prospective spouse in Australia, you can apply for a Partner visa (subclass 820/801) to remain in Australia permanently. Most applicants apply for the Partner visa within a few weeks of getting married.
